The elderly sisters are at it again.
by John Aquila inawhile back, about a year and a half ago, when i was starting to wake up, i explained to my mom that when the circuit overseer is in town, they schedule shepherding calls after lunch, not because they care, but because they dont want to work door to door in the hot summer or cold winter.
and they know that a prepared call means some nice hot chocolate and cookies or some ice cold tea and snacks.
i remember her looking at me kind of funny so i ended the conversation and left it at that, and never brought it up again.

Regarding elderly giving money and property to any religion, I cannot help but wonder if these elderly women had a non-JW husband who worked for 40 years to provide them with a pension. I doubt they earned this money themselves. Easy come, easy go.
As somebody who worked full-time, I can say I would never do this.
You know, that is exactly right. In my case, my marriage was going on 30 years, my ex-wife who left because she felt I had turned into an apostate started giving away our savings to the WT while going through the divorce. She must off worked about 3 years out of 26. She pioneered the rest of the time. I supported her. It was tough seeing my savings go from about 1,000.000 to 900,000, then 800,000, then 700,000, then 600,000. When it was all over I was left with about 80,000.
She is still pioneering and will turn 60 in about 5 years. She had no concept of how hard and how long it takes to save a million dollars. Because all she’s done all her life is pioneer.
One of her family members told her to trust in Jehovah because he will provide her with a wealthy good-looking Spiritual Brother.

My elderly mother and aunt evidently have quit making contributions, except for the literature they use. That's actually how it starts. So that's a good sign. I call it piecework waking up. Keeping the paradise earth hope but discarding everything else. I'm seeing quit a bit of that. I talk to several older ones that have told me they don't believe Jah has appointed the elders, CO or even the GB, the generation overlapping is bogus, JWTV is like the worldly evangelists, and the new donation arrangement will not get their support. But paradise earth is still in the picture.
Steve2 I also like the line that begins, "I personally have no problem with [specify a teaching] but a householder asked me about it and I'm not sure I answered it properly".
That's a good one, and I've read many experiences where it works like magic.

There are a few things that can be pointed out without sounding too apostate.I've actually practiced on putting on a dumb facial expression and use the words,
"You know, something I've never understood"
"You know I've always wonder about this"
"Haven't you ever thought about this"
"You know someone told me this and it made me think"
It always seems to work!

There HAS been healing in realizing this is a two bit organization full of hocus pocus and in getting over my shock and taking a deep breath and seeing who I can rescue while simultaneously using their own policies against them!
Me to. I like the fact that I can still mingle with some of the elders and plant a small virus on their head that no doubt keeps them awake at night. I don't actually try to wake them up but I do try to put a kink in their armor. Their armor is so flimsy, like toilet tissue, that it's not that hard. Plus I've learned that I may say something today, and 2 years from now---BAM---they're waking up.

John, a really good OP which shows how much you value human relationships and have an eye for noticing how older Witnesses are faring.
Thanks Steve2, I do have a special compassion for the elderly. Especially JW eldelry! They have sacrificed so much for the organization and in the end they get nothing. It bothers me a lot. If I had the power, I would restore them to their youth in an instant. But alas, I got nothing to give them, but my time when they allow me.

I'll tell you what else they do during afternoon shepherding calls....usually the C.O, and the COBE or another well placed elder make these calls. In between. they gossip about the other elders and the rest of the Hall and that is as they say.....when the "real" business gets done.
Millie were you and elder at one time? That is exactly what happens. I remember one time when I took the CO on afternoon calls. He made me cancel them all and we went to a pastry shop. Then he asked me to tell him of all the YOUNG SINGLE SISTERS that had committed fornication. He wanted details of the act. Which I did not have. He wanted to know if I had pictures of them. He wanted me to point them out in the Kingdom Hall. At the time I thought it was strange, but who was I to question the Apostle Paul reincarnated.
Looking back, he was a pervert.

They only way they can keep track of donations is to start tithing. That will probably be their next move. Just my two cents.I've been thinking the same thing. If they are hurting, what other choice do they have? I can hear them saying on JWTV;
"Brothers, the Governing Body is introducing a loving arrangement" $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
